the Only
Answer by Judy Charla After exploring psychology, both pop and traditional, and after accepting the theories of the current self-help authors, one finally comes to the conclusion that there is more to a person's individuality than what he or she experienced in this life. So an interest in reincarnation is born, (pardon the pun), and past lives and karma are scrutinized. As one reads through the dozens of very popular authors on the subject, and perhaps has a few regressions, past life memories or dreams, it appears that the theory of karma holds the key to life's questions and inequities, as indeed it does. Karma, briefly defined, refers to cause and effect, and is often or even most frequently used to refer to past lives. Typically someone will ponder why they are drawn to a career, for instance working with the handicapped, and then during a past life memory, reading or regression, they will discover they indeed were handicapped in a recent past life. Thus the drive to help those similarly challenged. Unfortunately this kind of scenario often leads people to blame themselves unduly about bringing their own misfortunes on themselves. Coupled with the prevalent belief system that we all create our own life experiences and interactions with people, one can really get into a life-style of self-blaming guilt. STOP! There can be other forces that are influencing you. Your current "self" is not a static entity just composed of karma and psychology. It is that, and it is also flexible and mutable and can be influenced without your "consent" to some degree. This is the missing link Your conscious mind is not aware of certain input and your unconscious mind can receive an overload of certain input which can influence you negatively, or in the case of others praying for you, positively. The bottom line is that you can harbor emotions and attitudes that are not your own! Some of the sources of this phenomena are: Telepathic invasion, the absorption of someone else's emotions and thoughts either deliberately transmitted to you or accidentally picked up. Morphogenetic attitudes, thought patterns so prevalent in our society, or in a subculture, as to actually create thoughts in your mind. The explanation of this phenomena can get quite complex, but it does happen. Subliminal messages in the media. Entire books have been written on this practice and it is much more prevalent than imagined, and not just limited to advertising. Influences from the spirit world, either good or bad. Ancestral tendencies- Unfortunately you can inherit psychological tendencies physically. That is, your genetic patterning can include behavioral tendencies even though you have not been exposed to this attitude in your present childhood, and even though your soul's "karma" is not creating this attitude. You must also fight some of this psychological patterning in your genes. You can do meditative exercises to protect yourself from outside influences, and to strengthen your resolve to live your own value system. You can also do frequent mini-affirmations to protect yourself with a surrounding light, and to affirm your own inner convictions.
